God forbid this country should ever become a "fully paid up member" of the EU. Being British I have the experience of before and after the fact as it affects the UK. Do you really want to go down the UK route and that of all the other members; high unemployment, greater national debt, ever increasing immigration problems, increased crime, escalating terrorism, reduced health service, armed services made up of publicity seeking juveniles and incompetents, corrupt officials offering "favours" for backhanders, national resources being controlled by others, etc, etc ..... Exactly what would Norway gain by joing the EU compared to what the country would lose ? Instead of the media only reporting on the story of some publicity seeking politician raising the positive aspects of Norway joining the EU ...
Banish Plastic Bags And Save The Turtles
EVERY time you use a plastic carrier bag a sea turtle dies. That's the message on the Mail's cover page as readers are urged to "BANISH THE BAGS". See "a British family on a weekly shop". And know: "In a distant sea a rare turtle, plastic bags lodged in its guts, is slowly dying." Can something be done to save it? No, not The Great British Shop - that for another campaign - the turtle? Yes, says the Mail. In all there are "13 billion ways you can help." Sadly, one of these ways does not involve pulling the plastic bag from the featured turtle's guts. Nor does it include removing the plastic bag that "chokes" another turtle, also pictured. It is too late to save the gannet, which lies on a Cornwall beach, strangled by a carrier bag.

US elections 2004
For supporters of John Kerry, who have seen allegations about the Democratic candidate's military record sap his campaign, it must have seemed like a case of just deserts. The president, George Bush, was last week looking vulnerable on the same grounds after CBS's flagship current affairs show, 60 Minutes, broadcast a report claiming he had been suspended from pilot duties for failing to meet the required standards. It was also claimed that a commanding officer had been put under pressure to "sugar coat" Mr Bush's performance reviews. But while CBS stands by its story, allegations have now surfaced that 60 Minutes based a large part of the report on forged documents. Although what one man - even a presidential candidate - did more than 30 years ago can seem rather trivial, the US election is being fought between a self-declared "war president" and a man who, in stump speeches, claims he would defend his country as president in the way he had defended it as a young man.
Follow the Reader 2007: The rest of the world, from Bali to Scottish ...
We've rented cottages four times in Devon, England's southwestern county noted for clotted cream, gorgeous countryside, famous seafarers such as Drake and Raleigh, and now local organic foods. One cottage was a thatched, 13th century granite farmhouse on the edge of Dartmoor National Park; two were in Chagford, a village surrounded by wonderful hiking country and small shops supplying high-quality foods. Our most recent stay in April was in an 18th century thatched cottage in Budleigh Salterton, a small seaside town on the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage site. All the cottages have gardens and are well equipped and comfortable. Chagford is a lively village with a 14th century church. Most traffic is on foot, and you're as likely to hear horses clopping down the street as automobiles.
Track World Cup 06-07 Round 1 - CDM
Asked whether he was worried about Queally's 1.02.362, set on a bunch bike with no tri-bars, Hoy replied, "I don't really think about the times when I'm up there, but that was a really impressive ride from Jason considering he's been on a similar program to me". Hoy will now focus on the team sprint but also mentioned a proposed trip to Bolivia for an attempt on Arnaud Tournant's world kilo record of 58.875, due to take place after next year's world track championships. "I wouldn't be going out there if I didn't think I could break the record. It's an amazing record but the track is virtually on the moon, so that makes a huge difference," he said. Tim Veldt of the Netherlands, riding in the same heat as Hoy, took the bronze medal in 1.03.314 while home favourite Joel Leonard finished sixth after riding a fast opening lap but fading in the closing stages.
Historic haciendas transport visitors to a bygone era
Haciendas are Mexico's version of the United States' Southern plantations: A throwback to a past era (some date to the 16th century) when wealthy families owned vast tracts of land and employed hundreds of workers. While no one advocates a return to the days of servitude, who can resist a brief taste of the life of a wealthy hacendado? Apparently no one: On the Yucatán Peninsula in particular, staying in a converted hacienda is quickly becoming a must-do experience. The Yucatán's haciendas reached their heights in the early 1900s with production of henequén, or sisal. The agave plant fiber was in such demand for making rope and twine in the early 1900s that it was called oro verde, or "green gold." After the invention of synthetic fibers in the 1940s killed the henequén industry, abandoned haciendas became grand derelicts until wealthy Mexicans began turning them into hotels in the early 1990s.
Universal Healthcare Is a Fraud
Why do you think when you go to a doctor with a weight problem, they put you on pills or staple your stomach? They are not allowed to you that the secret to weight loss is to eat less and exercise more, that's why. There's no money to be made off that simple advice. Why do you think herbal remedies are outlawed and those who attempt to administer them are charged with practicing medicine without a license? Many natural remedies have a long history of being effective, sometimes more effective than prescription medications, but because they are derived from a natural source and can't be patented, big pharma and the AMA will not allow them to exist. by Watching (0 articles, 1 quicklinks, 181 comments) on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 11:35:11 AM .
